This 4-week course, taught by Mr. Diaz, is perfect for beginners who have never drawn a face or have never drawn at all. The course will focus solely on the front view of the face and will teach students how to break down the head and facial features into simple shapes using fundamental drawing techniques. These techniques are designed to train your eyes and hands to internalize the fundamentals of drawing, which will strengthen your foundation and open the door to learning more advanced techniques in the future. By the end of the course, you will be able to confidently and accurately draw faces from the front view.

Students will receive printed handouts consisting of diagrams and exercises to take home, in order to reinforce their learning.

Artist Biography
 
Jose Godoy Diaz is a lifelong artist and experienced art instructor with over eight years of teaching expertise. He has spent the past year teaching Figure Drawing to adults through the Hayward Recreation Department.
 
Jose's teaching philosophy focuses on mastering the fundamentals of drawing the human form through an engaging, step-by-step approach. By emphasizing essential concepts such as gesture, structure, and perspective, students develop a robust visual library, empowering them to draw confidently from their imagination.
 
In Jose’s classes, students benefit from personalized, one-on-one mentorship and the chance to learn collaboratively within a group setting. By working alongside artists of varying skill levels, students are inspired to grow and refine their artistic
abilities.

Cancellation Policy:

  • Full refunds will be issued for any class or workshop cancelled by Urban Indigo Art and Design
  • For a full refund, you must notify Urban Indigo Art and Design online at least 7 calendar days (one week) before the class begins.   
  • Refund requests made less than 7 days notice are not guaranteed. Each case will be reviewed on an individual basis. If approved, the refund will incur a 50% processing fee.
  • Failure to attend a program (no shows) will not be granted a refund.
